Jen Case, Oboe

Oboist Jennifer Case, native of Huntsville, Alabama, has been an active performing artist in New York for over five years. She is very passionate about orchestral playing, having always felt a powerful connection to the ensemble. Ms. Case performed with the New York Philharmonic last summer, and also regularly plays with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony, and the Bermuda Philharmonic. She held the position of Second Oboe with the Wichita Symphony during the 2004-2005 season before moving to New York.

Also an active chamber musician, she is currently performing with Troika, a reed trio with a mission to explore and share the abundant repertoire for this lesser known ensemble, as well as collaborating with innovative composers and artists fashioning the 21st century. In 2009, she gave a full length concert with Sonevole Woodwind Quintet at St. Patrick's Cathedral before traveling to France and advancing in the Henri Tomasi Woodwind Quintet Competition.

Her musical training began at the age of four, when she eagerly began cello lessons. While she advanced on the cello, she began the oboe and it quickly became an essential part of her life. She performed twice as a winner of the Huntsville Youth Orchestra's concerto competition- once on cello and once on oboe. She made her New York orchestral solo debut in 2007 performing the Goossens Oboe Concerto with the Mannes Orchestra.

Ms. Case completed her Bachelor of Music at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Dr. Mark Ostoich. She earned her Master of Music at Mannes College, where she received a scholarship and studied with Sherry Sylar, Associate Principal Oboe with the New York Philharmonic. Ms. Case has been performing with Ensemble 212 since 2007 and a core member since 2008.
